The New Zealand Maori Wardens Association is an Incorporated body under
the Incorporated Societies Act 1908 and has been Incorporated since
February 1980.
The Association abides by a constitution (or rules) which sets out very clearly the objects for the organisation, which include the following:
- To provide an organisation for the purposes of enabling members to play an effective
part in social developments of communities.
- To represent and protect the interest of Maori Wardens.
- To assist members to exercise the powers and authority conferred on Maori Wardens.
- To work in close cooperation and harmony with the New Zealand Maori Council, Government Departments, agencies and societies.
- To assist Maori Associations in carrying out the objectives of the Maori Community Development Act 1962.
